PADI Dive Master -
The PADI Divemaster course is designed to train qualified individuals as supervisory personal. This is the first step in the PADI Leadership training progression. In this role, the Divemaster may either oversee general diving activities or serve as an underwater guide. The Divemaster may also fulfill important duties as an instructional assistant and may conduct PADI Environmental Orientation dives.
The Rating of Divemaster denotes a individual who:
- Has a high level of personal diving skill
- Has instructor level knowledge of diving theory
- Has had significant training in how to assist an instructor during training activities
- Is able to assume a role of responsibility for the welfare of other divers in his charge.
A good number of PADI Divemaster’s continue in their training to become full fledged instructors. Even for prospective Divemaster candidates who do not aspire to Leadership roles the Divemaster training program can be invaluable.
This course will offer an increased understanding of the physical laws that govern us underwater and can lead to greater enjoyment and reduced risk as we seek more demanding diving adventures. As you become comfortable with your diving skills you may begin to seek new avenues of adventure that could place you at unnecessary risk.
Gaining a deeper understanding of the physical realities of diving will help you to reduce your exposure to this risk by enabling you to make informed decisions. You'll gain this understanding through focused academic study and the development of superior water skills in this one-of-a-kind program. The student will further their knowledge to nearly instructor level in the areas of physics, physiology, equipment, environment and decompression.
The students will also refine their basic skills, as well as develop the skills of equipment organization and configuration, limited visibility or night diving, deep diving, wreck diving, navigation and light salvage.
